The Department of Human Services (DHS), Medicare (DHS-Medicare), processes claims for health providers on behalf of DVA. You can claim using a payment method that suits you.
Webclaim is a free service designed primarily to help providers who only have a small number of DVA clients.
DVA Webclaim lets you lodge medical, dental, optical and allied health claims (hospital and community nursing claims cannot be lodged through this channel) and will provide instant responses to most claims. You can also access online payment statements for processed claims.
To access DVA Webclaim, health professionals need a Medicare provider number, a PRODA account (previously a PKI certificate) and a computer with an internet connection.
If you have a current Medicare provider number you can apply for your PRODA account through the Department of Human Services — Create a PRODA Account. Once you have an account and completed the steps to authenticate your identity you are ready to commence DVA Webclaim.
If you currently hold a PKI Certificate you should update this and create a PRODA Account.
DVA Webclaim is available on the DHS website, at Health Professional Online Services (HPOS) portal.
Fill out the Provider registration for Electronic Funds Transfer payments form (HW029) and return it to DHS.
DVA offers online claiming through Medicare Online Claiming. This method is paperless, fast and efficient. Ask your software vendor for the latest version to maximise the benefits of electronic claiming.

From 1 October 2014, DVA will no longer supply health care providers with manual Health Care Claim Forms. A recent review of the distribution of warehoused vouchers and Fee Schedules considered the costs to deliver the services, strategies to reduce red and green tape, industry trends, the availability of electronic printable forms and fee schedules and alternative claiming solutions.
DVA has made no changes to the claiming process and will still accept existing (and printed) manual claiming vouchers.

For treatment claims submitted outside of the two-year period, health providers must demonstrate that failing to assess the treatment claim will expose them to financial hardship. In doing so, health providers must justify their exposure to financial hardship with documentary evidence.
