Income support

Income support covers a range of payments and benefits that you and your family can access. The support can include regular payments as well as extra allowances to top up your income.

  • Eligibility for benefits and payments

    We provide payments and services to you and your family depending on when and how you served

  • Qualifying service

    Service performed in certain operations that means you might qualify for the service pension

  • What changes your payments

    There are things you need to tell us about to make sure we pay you the right amount

  • Service pension

    We pay a service pension every 2 weeks to eligible veterans and their partners

  • Support when you cannot work

    Check how we can help if a service-related injury or illness impacts your ability to work

  • Allowances

    Check and see if you are able to get any of these extra payments along with your usual income
  • Crisis Payment

    You may be able to get a one-off payment from us if you are in a crisis

  • Financial help if you are blind

    If you are permanently blind in both eyes, we may use special rules when we work out your pension

  • Help to buy property or find accommodation

    Check if you can get financial support for housing and insurance, or find help if you are homeless

  • Lump sum advance

    Apply for an early payment of your pension, up to a certain amount

  • Pension Bonus Scheme

    We may pay a lump sum to people who chose to work instead of receive an income support payment

  • Supplements

    Extra money that we pay to help with your usual bills and expenses

  • Support for former prisoners of war

    Find out what we may pay you, your family, or pay to others who provide you with aged care services
