About the program

The TAPS Australia Postvention Workshop is a first-of-its-kind, one-off, train-the-trainer workshop designed for veteran families bereaved by suicide. Delivered in partnership with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, the Veteran Family Advocate Commissioner, and trusted national and international partners, this program offers an immersive experience in healing, peer support training, and co-designing the future of postvention in Australia.

This program is not a clinical treatment or a research study. It will be evaluated to inform a national postvention strategy and guide the development of future supports. Your lived experience will help shape systems of care for other families impacted by military suicide.

  • Connect with others who share the experience of military suicide loss
  • Explore tools for understanding grief, trauma, and recovery
  • Build confidence to support others as peer mentors or community advocates
  • Contribute to a growing national network of lived experience leaders
  • Help shape future postvention services to ensure no family walks alone

You will not be expected to carry others’ grief — only to share your own story, learn, and explore whether a peer support role might be right for you.
