How to become a DVA contracted Community Nursing provider

To provide community nursing services to DVA clients, you must meet the Community Nursing Program provider requirements and be issued with a current provider number to claim for services.

DVA funds contracted Community Nursing providers to deliver services to meet the clinical needs of eligible Veteran Card holders.
Community nursing services aim to enhance independence and health outcomes, helping people to stay at home for longer.
The professionals that deliver these services include:
- registered nurses (RN)
- enrolled nurses (EN)
- personal care workers (PCW) (also known as nursing support staff).
You may apply to the open invitation to become a DVA contracted Community Nursing provider if you meet, agree to and will adhere to the non-negotiable requirements of the:
- Terms and Conditions for the provision of Community Nursing Services (Terms and Conditions)
- Notes for Community Nursing Providers (the Notes)
- Community Nursing Schedule of Fees.
DVA does not guarantee any level of business and contracted Community Nursing providers are required to source their own referrals. DVA will only fund community nursing services delivered within the scope of the Community Nursing program to eligible clients.

You will need to register with AusTender via the AusTender website to obtain the relevant details and documentation. Once you have registered, search for CNS16 then download and read the Invitation documents that comprise:
- Terms and Conditions for the Provision of Community Nursing Services
- Notes for Community Nursing Providers (the Notes)
- Community Nursing Schedule of Fees
- Community Nursing Pro Forma on Administrative Information
It is important to note:
- the Offer to the CNS16 Invitation is an ongoing opportunity for potential new Community Nursing providers to submit an application for review and approval by DVA
- potential providers should establish their organisation’s capacity to provide community nursing services, based on meeting the requirements of the Terms and Conditions and Notes for Community Nursing Providers as well as the acceptance of the Schedule of Fees.
Submit your application
Following review and understanding of all documents for the CNS16 - Community Nursing Services Invitation on the AusTender website, you may choose to apply in response to the invitation. You will need to complete the following documents:
- Terms and Conditions for the provision of Community Nursing Services
- Community Nursing Pro Forma on Administrative Information
Once you have completed the documentation, you should email this to CN.AGREEMENT@dva.gov.au for DVA to review. On receipt of your application, you will be contacted by DVA with any requests for further information and/or clarification of the information that you have sent.
It is important to note, you must not commence delivering services to DVA clients until you have met the requirements, completed the process and been offered a contract by DVA.
