How to update your correspondence preference in MyService
You can change your DVA correspondence preference from your current setting through MyService.
You can choose to receive letters from DVA by post or in your myGov inbox as they become available digitally – this is the default preference that is set in MyService. Over time, we are increasing the range of letters that can be sent to you in myGov. If a letter isn’t available digitally, we will send it to you by post.
This guide includes images of sample screens. The screens do not contain information about any real DVA clients.
Back to topStep 1 – Select Correspondence
Sign in to MyService.
From the home page find the Your information section and select Correspondence.
Step 2 – Update your correspondence preference
On the Correspondence screen there is a section titled Manage correspondence preferences.
From this screen you can also request official letters. Instructions are available at How to request statements and letters in MyService.
Select either Send all my correspondence to my myGov inbox when available digitally or Send all my correspondence by post, followed by the Update preference button.
You can change your preference at any time.
If a letter isn’t available digitally, we will send it to you by post. So regardless of your preference, we recommend that you check your postal address is up to date. You can do this by selecting the My details or registered postal address links on this screen.
Note: To access letters via myGov, from the myGov home page select the Inbox tile.
Have a representative receive correspondence on your behalf
If you have a representative who acts on your behalf, they can also receive your DVA correspondence for you. This means you will no longer receive correspondence.
Select Representations and either add or manage a representative, then for the question Would you like your representative to receive correspondence on your behalf?, select Yes or No based on your preference.
You can also change this preference at any time.
If you are a representative who would like to update your correspondence preferences, you will need to do so within your own MyService account.
For more information on representatives, go to What is a representative? | Department of Veterans' Affairs.
