On 14 October 2024, the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) replaced the former Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT).
The new tribunal is a unified and fit-for-purpose federal administrative body which reviews decisions made under a range of Commonwealth Acts and instruments, including veterans’ entitlements.
The tribunal is user-focused, efficient, accessible, independent and fair. Importantly, the external appeal rights of veterans and families have not changed with the introduction of the new tribunal.
Transitional arrangements
If you have lodged an application to the previous AAT before 14 October 2024, you do not need to submit a new application to the ART.
Any application or proceeding in the AAT that was not finalised before 14 October 2024 has transferred automatically to the ART.
