National Palliative Care Week is 11 to 17 May.
This year’s theme is simple, What’s Your Plan?
The week appeals to Australians and their loved ones to talk about what matters most at the end of life and to make a plan that empowers and respects their choices during the last years, months and days of life.
To help veterans and families have these important conversations, DVA has developed the Planning Ahead – a guide to putting your affairs in order”.
The booklet provides information on the services available for veterans and families towards the end of life and after death.
Written specifically for members of the veteran and defence communities, it contains information that will be useful to carers and the people who act on their behalf or who help and advise them.
This includes information about palliative care, given when treatment to cure an illness will no longer work, and the services DVA provides terminally ill people and their families.
