The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) has published new resources to assist residential aged care providers and their teams to better understand the unique needs, and additional services available, to eligible DVA clients.
The new guide and webpages cover a range of important topics, including:
- Who DVA clients are and what the Veteran Cards mean
- Commemorating military service and recognition in aged care
- DVA supports available for eligible veterans
- Social connection and mental health support
- Supports and training for aged care teams
- A checklist for providers wanting to specialise in caring for veterans
- A quick reference guide - DVA Aged Care Supports
These informative and easy to follow resources have been co-designed with aged care providers and others familiar with the aged care industry to ensure they are fit for purpose.

The DVA Aged Care Supports quick reference guide provides aged care teams with contact information on a range of frequently accessed DVA services and supports, including DVA provider enquiries, the mental health advice line, and the Veterans Affairs’ Pharmaceutical Advisory Centre (VAPAC).
A poster is available to download that can be printed and put in your nurses station as a reference with QR codes linking to specific content on our website.
