The DVA-funded Mental Health Literacy and Suicide Prevention Training will continue to be offered across the country at no cost to the veteran community through to 30 June 2026.
An estimated 1200 people have already taken part in the training and now have valuable skills to help others who may be struggling with their mental health.
Conducted by Mental Health First Aid Australia and LivingWorks Australia, the training aims to increase mental health literacy and suicide intervention knowledge among the veteran community.
Participants learn how to provide initial support to someone who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis, until professional help is received or the crisis resolves.
Face-to-face workshops will be offered in all metropolitan and targeted regional areas in each state and territory.
Online workshops are also available to ensure accessibility for participants no matter where they live.
The training is open to all members of the veteran and serving ADF community, including families, caregivers, friends, employers and colleagues.
